HYDRATION – Water is essential for the body to function normally, typically accounts for 50-70% of our body weight. Lack of hydration can be caused by failing to drink enough, heat stress or physical exertion; it can make you feel rotten! Make sure that you drink plenty of fluids (take care with caffeine!) to keep hydrated.

SUN – Sunburn can occur after only a relatively short exposure periods at this time of year – for some types less than 30 minutes could result in skin damage. We recommend you keep covered up or apply sunscreen to exposed skin.

HEAT STRESS – This can result in loss of appetite, confusion, headaches and generally feeling unwell. Symptoms include cool moist skin with heat rash, sweating, feeling faint or muscle cramps. WATER depletion = excessive thirst, weakness and headaches. SALT depletion = feeling (or being) sick, dizziness or cramp.

AIRBORNE PARTICLES (DUST ETC) – This can arise in localised areas due to air movements. Eye protection is strongly recommended when on foot.

DO: Drink Plenty

Keep skin covered

Use sunscreen on exposed skin

Avoid tight clothing

Minimise excess exposure to heat/sun.
